Patient Experience Program

Your health and experience is our priority. To keep and improve our standard of quality health care and patient experience, we need to hear from you.

To measure our care and experience, Valley Presbyterian Hospital participates in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. The HCAHPS survey measures your perceptions of your hospital experience. It is a standardized tool for measuring and reporting patient experience across hospitals in the United States.

After you leave the hospital, you may be contacted by Press Ganey, a consulting firm specializing in measuring quality performance, by mail, to participate in the HCAHPS survey. The survey asks 29 multiple choice questions about your hospital stay. We ask you to please take a few minutes to complete the patient survey and return it to Press Ganey in the enclosed postage-paid envelope.

What is HCAHPS?

The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey is backed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The survey is used to improve the quality of health care. HCAHPS makes survey results public so hospitals are aware of areas that need improvement. The results also enable health care consumers to review and compare hospitals before choosing a health care provider.

  • Hospital Compare is a federal government website that allows users to compare the quality of care provided by hospitals. The information provided on this website is based on HCAHPS survey results.
  • The Leapfrog Group rates hospitals that take part in the Leapfrog Hospital Quality and Safety Survey. The Survey measures how well hospitals meet the Leapfrog Group's quality and safety standards. Survey results are reported on Leapfrog's website for users to compare hospitals.
