We Treat Life-Threatening Emergencies

When a health emergency happens, you can take comfort in knowing our highly skilled physicians and staff can help you and your family heal. Our Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We are licensed as a basic Emergency Department that provides care for patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

When to Come to the Emergency Room

If you feel that you or a loved one is experiencing an acute life-threatening emergency, please immediately call 911.

Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP)

Treating an emergency for an infant, toddler, or adolescent requires a unique set of skills. An Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) designation is awarded to hospitals that have demonstrated their capability in handling these situations. Valley Presbyterian Hospital is a designated EDAP by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency. In addition, VPH is also designated as a Pediatric Medical Center (PMC) by the Los Angeles County Emergency Services Agency for critically ill pediatric patients that require admission to a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

STEMI Receiving Center and Primary Stroke Center

Other specialty designations at Valley Presbyterian Hospital include being designated as a STEMI Receiving Center for the treatment of heart patients and a Primary Stroke Center with a dedicated stroke-focused program for supporting better outcomes for stroke care.
