Health Care Reform: What does it mean for you and your family?
As you may know, the
Affordable Care Act means major changes to the health insurance market, especially for those
who do not participate in an employer health care plan. This new law aims
to give more individuals and families in the U.S. access to affordable
health insurance coverage.
All newly purchased insurance plans are required to cover essential health
needs, including emergency care, physician visits, hospitalization, maternity
care, pediatric care, and prescriptions. The law also is designed so individuals
and families can benefit from sliding-scale financial assistance, which
enables most people to get quality health coverage at a reasonable price.
In order to get coverage from Valley Presbyterian Hospital and our contracted
physicians under your non-employer provided health insurance, you must
already be enrolled in a plan or have elected one during the annual open
enrollment period. If the annual open enrollment period for non-employer
provided health insurance has ended, you must wait until the next enrollment
period to elect participation.
At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, we believe everyone deserves access to
affordable health care. We are contracted with many types of insurances
including Medicare, Medi-Cal and Covered California
