Tamala Choma
Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer
Tamala Choma was appointed Vice President and General Counsel in April 2020. In addition, she was appointed as Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer in October 2022.
Prior to joining Valley Presbyterian Hospital, Ms. Choma served as Senior Counsel for L.A. Care Health Plan, Senior Counsel for UC Riverside, Associate Counsel for Genesis Health System, Associate Counsel and Of Counsel for Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego, Senior Counsel for Dignity Health, Corporate Counsel and Of Counsel for Sharp HealthCare, and as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in various clinical and educational settings.
As General Counsel, Ms. Choma provides legal advice, counsel, and guidance to senior executives across multiple lines of business on compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, and oversees all aspects of risk management, contract management, and compliance as well as coordinating all legal matters within the organization.
Ms. Choma earned her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, her master’s degree in communicative disorders from San Francisco State University and her bachelor’s degree in communicative disorders from San Diego State University.
