Lori Burnell

/Lori-Burnell

Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer

In her 39 years of nursing, Dr. Lori Burnell has never regretted a single day of promoting safety, care, and meeting the medical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others. She started her career as a Nursing Assistant in Critical Care long before unlicensed helpers were part of the staff in this area by convincing the Director of Nurses, she could be helpful there as a student nurse. This was the beginning of a career, negotiating with senior nurse leaders and administrators. The responsibilities and complexities in nursing as well as aspirations for leadership, were the impetus to continue learning by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and, thereafter a Master of Science in Nursing. In 2011, while serving as a Chief Nursing Officer at a large two-campus hospital, she completed her Doctorate in the Philosophy of Nursing at the University of San Diego.
