Wound & Hyperbaric Center
Advanced Care for Chronic Wounds
Most wounds heal quickly and can be treated by your primary care physician. However, when a wound takes weeks or longer to heal, you need the advanced, specialized care provided by the Wound & Hyperbaric Center at Valley Presbyterian Hospital. Our multidisciplinary team of experts includes general, vascular, podiatric surgeons, and infectious disease specialists. With the support of registered nurses and hyperbaric technologists, our advanced wound care team is dedicated to helping chronic wounds heal where traditional methods have failed.
Non-healing wounds may be caused by a wide range of conditions, so our specialists work together with your primary care physician to quickly diagnose your condition and create an individualized treatment plan for healing. Our treatments include advanced diagnostic testing, debridement, advanced wound dressing technology, negative pressure therapy, and many other techniques and technologies.
Chronic wounds, particularly wounds of the foot, can be a serious complication of diabetes, and our team helps at-risk diabetic patients control and manage their wounds. Diabetes often leads to poor circulation and nerve damage (neuropathy), which can lead to a wide range of foot problems, including foot ulcers and wounds that refuse to heal. Left untreated, these wounds can cause severe infections and may even result in amputation. Together with the experts of our related Center for Wound Healing, the Wound & Hyperbaric Center team offers a complete range of individualized patient education and treatment plans designed to help diabetic patients overcome their long-term foot problems.
We also offer hyperbaric oxygen treatment for wound management. Our advanced chambers provide pure 100% oxygen with pressure, which increases the oxygen content of blood reaching the wound tissue. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps the healing process, combats infection, and may be given in conjunction with other treatments such as antibiotics and surgery.
