Interventional radiology is among the most advanced sub-specialties offered
within the Heart & Vascular Services program at Valley Presbyterian
Hospital. Using interventional radiology, our teams can diagnose and treat
cardiac and vascular patients through minimally invasive, image-guided
techniques. Many conditions that once required traditional surgery can
be treated through interventional methods, significantly reducing the
risk of complications, pain and hospital time for equivalent treatments.
Our expert medical teams, including physicians, nurses and technologists
use computerized tomography (CT), ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI) and other advanced imaging techniques to place precisely a thin
tube (catheter) within the blood vessels, arteries or heart. Once in place,
the catheter may be used to perform ablation, angiography, arteriography
and venography, among other procedures.
