In 2017, Valley Presbyterian Hospital was designated a Pediatric Medical
Center (PMC), recognized by the County of Los Angeles, which allows our
team of pediatric specialists to treat and handle a higher level of care
needed for our pediatric patients in our
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Only three hospitals are a designated PMC in the San Fernando
Valley, and we are proud that VPH is one of them. Additionally, our
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) designation means we have specialized pediatric teams, including
pediatric surgeons and anesthesiologists, who are ready at a moment's
notice to assemble, triage, and fast-track children to the care they urgently need.
At Valley Presbyterian Hospital's Pediatric Medical Center (PMC), we
recognize that children need specialized care for every age and stage
of development. That's why we bring together an integrated team of
pediatricians, pediatric nurses, respiratory therapists, case managers
and others who focus exclusively on the care and treatment of children's
conditions.
On admission to our 25-bed unit, your child will be assigned to a dedicated
pediatric hospitalist. Pediatric hospitalists are pediatricians who work
in the hospital and specialize in caring for infants, children and teens
during their hospital stay. The hospitalist will meet with you and your
child, assess your child's medical history, and recommend a treatment
plan. He or she will be available to you throughout your child's hospital
stay to keep you well informed and answer any questions you may have.
Our pediatric physicians represent the following sub specialties:
- Pediatric Cardiology
- Pediatric Ear, Nose, Throat
- Pediatric Infectious Disease
- Pediatric Gastroenterology
- Pediatric Neurology
- Pediatric Orthopedics
- Pediatric Surgery
Another key member of our patient care team is our child-life specialist,
a trained professional who helps your child and your family to overcome
the challenges of serious medical conditions and treatments.
We support and treat a wide variety of medical conditions by providing:
- Child life services
- Critical and urgent care
- Developmental/behavioral care
- Rehabilitation services
- Well child and adolescent care
Our Center fulfills the medical and emotional needs of children and their
