About Us
Advanced, Family-Centered Care Close to Home
In 2017, Valley Presbyterian Hospital was designated a
Pediatric Medical Center (PMC), recognized by the County of Los Angeles, which allows our team
of pediatric specialists to treat and handle a higher level of care needed
for our pediatric patients in our
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Only three hospitals are a designated PMC in the San Fernando
Valley, and we are proud that VPH is one of them. Additionally, our
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) designation means we have specialized pediatric teams, including
pediatric surgeons and anesthesiologists, who are ready at a moment's
notice to assemble, triage, and fast-track children to the care they urgently need.
When your child is sick or injured, Valley Presbyterian Hospital brings
compassionate and specialized pediatric care to children of the San Fernando
Valley. Each member of our pediatric care team shares a patient- and family-centered
approach, providing your child and your family with the treatment and
support needed for positive outcomes.
Our facility is equipped to serve the individual health care needs of children
from newborn to age 18. Children's Services at Valley Presbyterian
Hospital encompasses three units:

Helping Children to Heal
Our PMC and PICU are designed to meet the medical and emotional needs of
children. Patient rooms in these units feature a child-friendly theme,
as well as a plasma television and recliner for parents who wish to remain
at their child's bedside. Our playroom is stocked with computers,
books, easels, puzzles, board games, and video games, allowing the children
in our care to be kids as well as patients.
At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, families play an important role in the
emotional and physical recovery of their children. To support this role,
physicians and staff strive to make parents and family members feel comfortable
and included in their child's care while in our hospital.
Equipped to Provide Emergency Care
Valley Presbyterian Hospital has been approved by the County of Los Angeles as an
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP). This designation is based on the qualifications of our staff,
quality of care, equipment and established treatment procedures. Specialized
pediatric teams, including on-call pediatric surgeons and anesthesiologists
are available to diagnose and direct children to the care they urgently need.
