Valley Presbyterian Hospital is dedicated to creating a healing environment
for our patients and visitors. A smoke-free campus environment supports
this mission and enables us to provide the highest quality, safest health
care possible. Patients and visitors are prohibited from smoking pipes,
cigars, cigarettes, or vaping in the hospital or on the hospital campus.
Smoking is defined as the act of lighting, smoking, or carrying a lighted
or smoldering cigar, cigarette, or pipe of any kind. Vaping refers to
the use of electronic nicotine delivery systems or electronic smoking
devices such as e-cigarettes, e-pipes, e-hookahs, and e-cigars.
Physicians are prohibited from writing orders for patients to be allowed
to smoke while under our care. As part of our commitment to our patients'
health, we encourage smoking cessation by asking physicians to order cessation
aids. Our staff also provides patients and family members with community
resource referrals for smoking cessation programs.
