Ways to Give

Legacy Circle Legacy Circle

The Legacy Circle includes individuals who have named Valley Presbyterian Hospital as a beneficiary in their estate plan. Such forward-thinking generosity is the foundation upon which institutions are built. These gifts provide essential funding for the hospital while often affording financial benefits to the donor and the donor's family now, and in the future.

Joining the Legacy Circle is easy. A donor informs us, in writing, that Valley Presbyterian Hospital is a beneficiary of his/her estate plan. All details of the gift will be held in the strictest of confidence and funds will be directed according to the donor's wishes. Individuals who make arrangements for planned gifts should inform the hospital so there is an opportunity to thank them now and to add their names to the Legacy Circle donor wall.

The Legacy Circle recognizes supporters in the following ways:

  • Recognition in the Annual Report and website in the year in which the hospital was informed of the gift
  • Permanent recognition on the Legacy Circle donor wall for estate gifts of $25,000 or more
  • An invitation to exclusive hospital special events
  • A choice of a naming opportunity appropriate for the size of the gift (minimum planned gift of $500,000)

Estate Plan Gifts

There are many ways to include Valley Presbyterian Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary in an estate plan. Some of the typical plans include:

  • Will or Trust - creating a will or trust allows you to defer a gift after your lifetime. You may wish to designate a percentage of your retirement plan, health savings plan or life insurance policy. Your benefit will be to maintain your current lifestyle while making a meaningful gift to support the hospital.
  • Assets - leaving an asset to the hospital, now or in the future, is another way to show your support. Assets can be stocks or securities, real estate or other personal property. Typically, donors may receive an immediate income tax deduction and may be able to avoid capital gain taxes, depending upon the value of the donated asset.
  • Charitable Trusts - creating a trust is another opportunity to support the hospital, while at the same time providing financial benefits to the donor. Donors may be able to supplement their income or create a revenue stream for a set number of years. As an example, a charitable remainder trust lets donors enjoy payments now, while the balance eventually goes to support the important work of the hospital.
