Flu Season Visitor Restrictions
Visitor Policy During Flu Season
The onset of a potential H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) pandemic has influenced Valley Presbyterian Hospital to be proactive and modify our visitation policy during the flu season. The new visitation policy is temporary and was implemented as a precaution to limit the number of people who are exposed to highly transmissible diseases such as the H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) or seasonal flu.
Visitor Policy
-
Children under the age 16 are not permitted to visit inpatient care units.
-
Children under the age of 16 may not be left unattended in non-patient care areas (lobby, waiting rooms, cafeteria, etc.)
-
All patients and visitors will be screened for signs and symptoms of influenza-like illness with an initial health screening visitor form.
-
Visitors who have flu-like symptoms (fever, muscle aches, headache, runny nose, sore throat, etc.) are asked not to visit.
-
Individuals seeking treatment with flu like symptoms will be asked to wear a surgical mask and use an alcohol based sanitizer.
-
Visits will be kept to a minimum of two people at a time. Visitors are encouraged to send good wishes with a call, card or a Get Well Email through our website.
-
Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. except in units where 24-hour visitation is permitted. Overnight visitation is only allowed in the Maternal Child Health Department, according to unit specific policy.
-
The visitor policy may be modified only under special circumstances. Please talk with the nurse manager on in-house supervisor to make special arrangements.
