Valley Presbyterian Hospital now offers free transportation to see your healthcare provider. This program is a community benefit program for patients in the neighborhoods served by VPH. Patients in eligible zip codes can request rides from their home to the hospital and back -- or from their home to a participating clinic. Schedule A Free Ride

Before scheduling a ride, please read the sections below to determine Participating VPH Departments, Participating Clinics, Eligible Zip Codes, Approved Transit Routes, and Service Guidelines. Patients in eligible zip codes must schedule rides 24 hours in advance using one of the Hospital Dept / Service phone numbers (OR) Participating Clinics phone numbers listed below. Please do not contact the main hospital phone number. This transportation program is not for emergency use. For all emergency needs please dial 9-1-1.

Service Guidelines

  • Requests for pick-up/drop-off must be made 24 hours in advance of service.
  • Immediate requests for pick-up/drop-off may be made within 4 hours.
  • Ride requests are not guaranteed.
  • Monday pick-up requests must be made on the Friday before service.
  • There are no service restrictions based on a patient’s insurance coverage or medical condition.
  • Emergency transportation services are not available.
  • Patients may be picked-up from their home and dropped-off at:
    • FQHC/Clinic
    • Valley Presbyterian Hospital
  • Patients may be dropped-off at their home when picked-up from:
    • FQHC/Clinic
    • Valley Presbyterian Hospital
  • Transportation is permitted to all populations served by VPH, irrespective of health related conditions, medical diagnosis, economic status, insurance and payor status.
  • Patient transportation will be provided free of cost to all eligible patients receiving the transportation service.
  • Patients of any payor status, whether insured or uninsured, may receive free transportation.
  • Patients of any medical condition or diagnosis, whether a medical condition has been diagnosed or undiagnosed may receive free transportation.
  • Children under the age of 1 year will not be transported in the passenger transit van.
  • Passengers are required to provide and install child safety seating* adherent to California State law as follows:
    • Children under the age of 8 must be secured in a car seat or booster seat in the back seat.
    • Children who are 8 years of age OR have reached 4' 9" in height must be secured by a safety belt in the back seat.
    • Passengers who are 16 years of age and over are subject to California's Mandatory Seat Belt law.
* Effective January 1, 2017 - Children under 2 years of age shall ride in a rear-facing car seat unless the child weighs 40 or more pounds OR is 40 or more inches tall. The child shall be secured in a manner that complies with the height and weight limits specified by the manufacturer of the car seat.
