VAN NUYS, Calif. — Valley Presbyterian Hospital soon will host its 3rd Annual Golf Classic fundraiser event to benefit its Emergency Department and the local community.

The fundraiser will be held on September 30 at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village. The Title Sponsor of the 3 rd Annual VPH Golf Classic is Mutual of America. Presenting Sponsors include HealthCare Finance Group, Emergency Medical Associates and Preferred Partners Insurance Agency. To date, the event has raised more than $180,000 to benefit Valley Presbyterian Hospital's emergency services.

"Valley Presbyterian hospital provides emergency care to nearly 60,000 patients each year," said Pegi Matsuda, Senior Vice President of Community & Market Development. "As a safety net hospital, our hospital often is the only option available to patients with health problems requiring immediate treatment.

"With the generous support of our event sponsors and participants, our hospital will continue to serve the growing critical care needs of the Van Nuys and surrounding community."

Valley Presbyterian Hospital's Emergency Department is specially certified to treat pediatric and stroke patients and is designated a STEMI Receiving Center for heart attack patients brought to the facility by paramedics. As a STEMI Receiving Center, the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, cardiologists and cardiac surgical services team collaborate to provide critical care within 90 minutes of the onset of chest pain. Additionally, the hospital provides "fast track" emergency services for patients with urgent, but not life-threatening needs.
